Northern Forest Heritage Park is located in New Hampshire’s Great North Woods, and the Park was organized in 1994 to preserve and interpret the fascinating history and heritage of the Great North Woods Region.

Northern Forest Heritage Park is open year round, and a variety of events and attractions are available seasonally. The Park itself consists of a 3-acre site that includes walkways as well as waterfront access to the Androscoggin River. There is an outdoor amphitheater and a replica of a logging camp as well as other interactive exhibits at Northern Forest Heritage Park.

You will want to visit the Brown Company House Museum on your visit to the Northern Forest Heritage Park. H. W. Winslow Company built the Brown House in 1853, when it served as a boarding house for employees of their sawmill. “Grandfather Brown” and his family purchased this historic building in 1868 when W. W. Brown purchased the sawmill and accompanying properties from the H. W. Winslow Company. A formal garden installed beside the Brown House by Mrs. O. B. Brown in 1929 is presently being restored. 

In addition to the Brown House Museum, there are more exhibits at the Artisans display gallery at Northern Forest Heritage Park. You can purchase an assortment of unique souvenirs and gifts at the Artisans Gift Shop on site. The Artisans Gift Shop contains handcrafted items from local and regional artisans. You can browse the Gift Shop Monday through Friday from 9am to 4 pm at the Brown Company House.

River Boat Tours are available at the Northern Forest Heritage Park from mid-May through mid-October. Take a 90-minute scenic, narrated River Boat tour along the beautiful Androscoggin River. Tours are available Tuesdays through Thursdays at 2 pm and 5 pm, rain or shine. You can make your reservation by phoning 603 752-7202.

A variety of lectures, seminars, cultural festivals and concerts are held at Northern Forest Heritage Park each year, with most activities held from spring through fall. Art and nature exhibits as well as blacksmith demonstrations and lumberjack competitions are some of the other events you can plan to attend at Northern Forest Heritage Park.
